Collar and Leash Play

Collar and leash play is a BDSM practice where one partner wears a collar around the neck and the other attaches a leash to guide, lead, or control their movement during a scene.

People are drawn to it for the tangible symbolism of ownership and trust, and because a leash gives the handler constant physical feedback about their partner's position and pace. It shows up both in structured power-exchange relationships, where a collar may carry ongoing symbolic weight, and in casual scenes focused on the sensation of being led or restrained.

Worth knowing: Never pull or jerk a collar or leash against the neck, since pressure on the throat can restrict breathing or blood flow; agree on limits and a safeword beforehand, and check in with your partner throughout.

Also called: leash training, collar play, pet play, puppy play, leading, handler and pet, symbolic collars, posture collars
